Company Background
NeuroEye is a Portuguese venture founded in 2006 by the combined
initiative of two researchers from the Medicine Faculty of Coimbra.
The company was created with the mission to transfer the deep knowledge
of its promoters, as renowned neuroscientists, to the healthcare industry.
NeuroEye's activity is based mainly in the investigation of new psychophysical
and electrophysiological methods to be applied on the development of early
diagnosis and treatment tools in the field of ophthalmology and neurology.
Its multidisciplinary team confers this venture scientific and technical
know-how as well as deep market knowledge that allow NeuroEye to compete
with the established enterprises in its market niche.
Founders
Miguel Castelo Branco handles both management and scientific coordination
functions at NeuroEye.
He holds a MD degree from the Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra in Portugal and obtained
his PhD at the Department of Neurophysiology of the Max-Planck-Institut für Hirnforschung
in Frankfurt, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Wolf Singer (Director) and
Prof. Dr. Cunha-Vaz (Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal).
At present Miguel is an Assistant Professor of Biophysics, Faculty of Medicine, University
of Coimbra and the Director of IBILI, Faculty of Medicine, Coimbra, Portugal.
Aldina Aragonês Reis is both manager and Orthoptist Researcher at NeuroEye.
She holds a MSc. On Vision Sciences (Faculty of Medicine, Coimbra, Portugal)
and is currently a PhD Student on Health Sciences in the same institution.
Aldina is an orthoptist of Centre of Responsibility in Ophthalmology of the University Hospital
of Coimbra and she also teaches at the Higher Institute for Health Technology of Lisbon.

Over the past 2 years NeuroEye established several partnerships with other companies and
medical institutions that complement our areas of expertise providing us the opportunity to
offer our costumers better solutions.

The Coimbra Surgical Centre is a Portuguese private health unit situated in Coimbra
